If you live in Volusia, Seminole, Orange, or Lake counties,it is back to school for our kids on Monday, August 12. Whether you are a new resident or have been living in central Florida for decades, it is always good to check the school calendars and review school bus safety.
Important dates and school start and end times can change from year to year, so be sure to visit your county’s school district website for the 2019-2020 information. You can find it at Volusia https://www.vcsedu.org/, Seminole https://www.scps.k12.fl.us/, Orange https://www.ocps.net/, and Lake https://www.lake.k12.fl.us/.
Even if you do not have a student this year, it is a good idea to stay informed. A lot of students ride their bikes or walk to school, if you live in one of those school zones, be sure to check your sprinkler times.Make sure that they have finished running by no later than 6 AM, to allow children to remain safely on the sidewalks.
Brush up on school bus laws and safety so you know when to stop for a school bus, and when to proceed with caution. This infographic https://www.flhsmv.gov/wp-content/uploads/School_buses-03-01-1024x691.png has some great reminders.
To the students returning for the 2019-2020 school year:
